These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Bank2XL ("the Service"), including the Chrome extension, web application, and API at bank2xl.app. By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

Plain-language summary: The Service converts your PDFs to spreadsheets using AI. Output may contain extraction errors - always verify before using for tax, accounting, or legal purposes. Free tier is 3 statements per day. Paid plans bill monthly. Either party can cancel at any time. We disclaim liability for indirect damages.

1. The Service

Bank2XL is a software tool that uses AI (large language models) to read PDF bank statements and produce structured Excel, CSV, and JSON outputs. The tool is intended for personal bookkeeping, expense categorization, accounting prep, and similar use cases.

2. Accuracy and verification

Important: The Service uses probabilistic AI extraction. Outputs may contain errors including but not limited to: misclassified transactions, missing rows, incorrect amounts, mis-parsed dates, polarity sign errors (debit/credit), or missed pages.

You agree to verify the output against the source PDF before using it for any purpose that has financial, tax, legal, or audit consequences. The Service provides a "Validation" sheet in every Excel export showing balance reconciliation status - use it.

Bank2XL is not a substitute for professional bookkeeping, accounting, or tax advice.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the Service for personal, business, or commercial purposes, provided you:

Only upload statements you have the legal right to process.
Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or rate-abuse the Service.
Do not use the Service to commit fraud, evade taxes, or violate any law.
Do not upload content that is malicious (malware, exploit payloads) or that violates the rights of others.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules. We may rate-limit or block traffic that we believe constitutes abuse.

4. Free tier and paid plans

4.1 Free tier

The Service offers a free tier of 3 statement conversions per 24-hour period per account or IP. We may adjust this limit at any time.

4.2 Paid plans

Paid plans (Starter, Pro, Business) are billed monthly via Stripe. Plan limits and prices are listed on the pricing page and may change with 30 days' notice. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no refunds for partial periods unless required by law.

4.3 Fair use

Plans include a stated number of statement pages per month. Heavy automated use exceeding 5x the typical pattern may be throttled or require an enterprise plan.

5. Your content

You retain all ownership of the PDF files you upload and the spreadsheet outputs generated. We do not claim any rights to your data. We process it only to provide the Service to you, as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Our intellectual property

The Bank2XL software, extension, prompts, code, branding, and documentation are owned by us and licensed to you only for use of the Service. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works of the Service itself without written permission.

7. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

Extracted data will be 100% accurate.
The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
The Service will work with every bank's statement format.
Outputs are suitable for tax filing, audit, or legal evidence purposes without independent verification.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BANK2XL AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR USD $50, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g., for gross negligence or willful misconduct in jurisdictions where such limitations are not permitted).

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims arising from (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any third-party rights, or (c) your use of the Service in connection with any unlawful activity.

10. Termination

You may cancel your account at any time from the Settings page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where reasonable. On termination, your account record (email, billing) is deleted within 30 days, subject to legal/tax retention requirements. Statement files themselves are never stored — they are processed in memory and discarded as soon as the conversion is returned to your browser, so there is nothing to delete on the file side.

11. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Montenegro, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration or in the courts of Podgorica, Montenegro, except where you have a non-waivable right under your local consumer law.

If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or US, your local consumer protection laws may give you additional rights that override these terms in your favor; nothing here limits those rights.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced via email and via a banner on the landing page. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, stop using the Service before the changes take effect.
